  • Workshop based interactive learning in activities
  • All written activities in Easy English
  • All PowerPoints and instructions in Easy English
  • Personalised package of materials; a set for mentors, and a set for mentees. Includes most up to date Easy English checklist in Easy English and the standard 5 step process for developing Easy English
  • It is preferable for at least some of the mentors to have completed our standard 2 day Easy English course
  • Each pair brings along a document to begin to develop to Easy English during and after the event
  • Every person receives a Certificate of Attendance: Certificate in Easy English.

  • Reading Easy English. What makes it easy to read: What things need to change
  • A plan for your Easy English
  • Different words to use
  • Sentences to use
  • Picture choices. For simple ideas, complex ideas, interactive ideas
  • What the layout of each page needs to look like
  • What you can do now; what you can try next.

Proposal is

  • 1 hour teaching sessions with breaks across the day. EG: 4 hours of teaching per day, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
  • 3 days of 4 hours teaching minimum = 12 hours
  • 4 days of 4 hours teaching x 2 days x 2 weeks = 16 hours
  • Negotiated to meet the specific needs of your group.

Following training

Each pair receives up to an hour of editorial review of their draft Easy English from our team.

Each pair can join our closed Facebook or LinkedIn support groups.

Each pair can access the post training tutorial webinars, offered on a regular basis. Or you can purchase your own bespoke versions.

Outcomes

Introduction to a framework, and tools to use to review staff developed Easy English.

With the support of a person with broader general knowledge and higher literacy skill, early skills to begin to develop meaningful, and effective Easy English for their peers.

Starts at $7,000 + gst plus travel and accommodation, as required (from Melbourne)

Cathy Basterfield. She is a trained speech pathologist, with more than 35 years’ experience, working with people with multiple and complex communication needs, including people with intellectual disability. Know more about your trainer.
