Time: Choose from a 1 day workshop; 2 x half day workshop; 3 x 2.5 hour workshop.

Cost:  From $3,250 + gst for a 1 day workshop at your venue or online.

           Note: You can include the workshop cost in the persons NDIS plan.

Numbers: maximum of 15 people per workshop.

Cathy is based in metropolitan Melbourne. Travel costs may apply. Accommodation costs will apply, when it is necessary to travel to regional Victoria or other states.

What is in the workshop?

Your Key Word Sign (previously Makaton) workshop includes:

• Interactive learning environment
• Learn to use natural gesture to enhance communication
• Develop, use and gain confidence in a basic vocabulary of signs to use in everyday settings
• How to choose which signs to teach
• Principles of Key Word Sign and Gesture
• Learn how to choose which signs to teach
• Principles of Key Word Sign and Gesture
• How sign helps communication development
• How to use sign all day, every day.

Every participant receives the current edition of  Getting started with Key Word Sign (Auslan Edition)

Anyone who wants to be able to use Key Word Sign in their interactions.

Families, including mum and dad, siblings, uncles and aunties, cousins, grandparents, other extended family and neighbours.

All teachers, Integration Aides, Support Staff, Early Years Teachers, Child Care Teachers and staff, Special school, Catholic School, Private School, Government School staff, Therapists, Support Workers (all areas), Psychologists, parents, NDIS staff, NDIS coordinators,  etc

• learn all Key Word Sign Interactive Vocabulary 1 and 2
• learn theory and implementation strategies for Key Word Sign
• learn to use Key Word Sign in a variety of interactive activities, which you will be able to incorporate into your own setting.

Morning or afternoon tea provided.

Pre-requisite: You need to have previously attended a Basic Key Word Sign Workshop (equivalent to a 1 day workshop)

Suitable for

Anyone who has previously attended a Basic Key Word Sign workshop and wants to

• refresh their Key Word Sign skills
• use their signing in lots of different activities
• try new activities and ideas for using Key word Sign.

This is a workshop which allows you to refresh your signing skills and theory about Key Word Sign (previously Makaton). You will go away with fresh ideas about how to expand the ways in which you are using Key Word Sign now, and how to continue to expand the Key Word Sign you use in your own environment.

A range of resources for further study and independent activities will be available.

• review the Key Word Sign Interactive Vocabulary 1 and 2 from the 1 day workshop
• review theory and implementation strategies for Key Word Sign
• practice your Key Word Sign in a variety of fun and engaging interactive activities, which you will be able to incorporate into your own setting.
